Source: securityweek.com Credit card fraud doubles in The Bahamas | NASSUA, Bahamas (CMC) --The Bahamas police are reporting that cases of credit card fraud have doubled in the first half of the year, compared to the same period last year.Inspector Debrah Thompson, Head of the Business and Technology Crimes section of the Central Detective Unit (CDU), said there were 16 reported cases up to the end of June 2014, but seven cases to June 2013.We continue to see an increase in the number of credit card fraud matters reported to us, Thompson said during a press conference Friday.What weve noticed with these matters is that most of these are counterfeit credit cards where individuals steal someones identity,\" she added.So far this year 19 people have been arrested and 16 of were charged with fraud.The police said they have also noticed a new trend involving debit and ATM cards.
